Poa trivialis , Lolium perenne or Poa annua as nurse crops for faster establishment of Agrostis stolonifera putting greens in Nordic climates

چکیده
Seed mixtures with a nurse grass that germinates quickly at low soil temperatures can be an option for faster establishment of Agrostis stolonifera (AS) putting greens after winter damage. From 2015 to 2018 Poa trivialis (PT) ‘Dark Horse’ and Lolium perenne (LP) ‘Chardin’ were evaluated as grasses in comparison pure AS ‘Independence’ two experimental sites each the major climatic zones Nordic countries. annua (PA) ‘Two-Putt’ was also included northern zone. As overall trend, AS+LP than AS+PT AS+PA, which both had AS. In zone, produced better turf quality seeding year tended superior even on average entire trial period (mean value 6.0 versus 5.8 AS, 5.3 AS+LP, 4.6 AS+PA; scale 1–9 where 9 is highest quality). Within same suffered less damage other combinations infected microdochium patch southern PT especially LP far more persistent zone compromised turfgrass compared conclusion, we recommend but not should rather seeded stand.

Moss Control in Creeping Bentgrass Putting Greens
Moss (Bryum argenteum) continues to become one of the most problematic weeds in creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) putting greens. Control of moss can be approached in many different ways, including chemical applications, and cultural practices such as correcting shading or poor drainage. A study was conducted at Springdale Country Club (Springdale, Ark.) to evaluate the effectiveness of s...
متن کاملSubsurface Drainage of Modern Putting Greens
Subsurface drainage involves both intensity and capacity attributes. Intensity of subsurface drainage refers to how rapidly a root zone drains. Capacity, on the other hand, refers to the extent of excess (gravitational) water removal from the root zone. Consequently, discussions of putting green drainage often become confused since the expression improved drainage can imply improved drainage ca...
متن کاملEstablishing and Trafficking New Bentgrass Putting Greens
Establishing and Trafficking New Bentgrass Putting Greens Golf turf managers are pressured from the golfing community to reduce the establishment time of playing surfaces. To this end, accelerated grow-in procedures are implemented that eventually permit play on surfaces that are less than prepared to receive traffic. Research hassuggested that accelerated grow-in procedures and premature traff...
